A Halloween announcement, with the premiere still ahead

Hiragi-san's House of Vampires is getting a television anime. TMS Entertainment's announcement is dated October 31, 2026, and credits UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS with planning and production. The first released image brings Shota Minamoto face to face with Yukie, one of the vampire family's three sisters. No broadcast window, voice cast or animation studio accompanies the announcement.

The project arrives with an unusually appropriate Halloween hook: an invitation into a beautiful house where hospitality carries a threat. The earlier promotional campaign on the official X account played with that invitation before identifying the anime. The reveal now gives those mysterious posts a subject, but leaves the practical viewing details for another update.

For a watchlist, the useful status is “TV anime announced; date pending.” There is no confirmed year to attach to it yet. The December date advertised on the production website belongs to the manga's seventh volume, which is scheduled for December 16, 2026. Keeping those two releases separate prevents an easy calendar mistake.

The family welcome is the unsettling part

Shota is a junior-high student living in a children's home when a family takes him into its luxurious Japanese-style estate. Kodansha's English introduction emphasizes how warmly he is received and how that welcome lets him lower his guard. The household's secret changes the meaning of that kindness: the family members are vampires, and Shota's place among them is suddenly uncertain.

The premise has a sharper emotional hook than simply putting a human near vampires. Shota needs a home. That makes trust a necessity, even when the people offering it may also pose a danger. A stranger can walk away from an alarming encounter; someone hoping to belong has a reason to stay. The conflict is built into the welcome itself. This is an interpretation of the announced setup, rather than a review of unaired episodes. It explains why the domestic setting matters. Everyday gestures such as being invited inside or treated as one of the family can carry two meanings at once. The title promises a household comedy, while the premise keeps asking what membership in that household will cost its newest arrival.

Reading the first visual: closeness without reassurance

The super-teaser image focuses on Yukie, identified by TMS as the second daughter, approaching Shota's neck. Moonlight fills the room in blue. Yukie's luminous pink eyes and the blood around her mouth draw attention immediately, while Shota faces away from the viewer. The picture offers proximity without giving us the reassuring exchange of expressions associated with a conventional romantic portrait.

That choice puts the viewer in an uneasy position. We can see Yukie's face clearly, but cannot read Shota's response in the same way. The open window and full moon supply space above them; the encounter itself remains tightly framed below. It is a quiet image with very little physical distance between the characters, which makes the threat feel personal rather than spectacular.

Yoshikawa's accompanying comment highlights her attention to the contrast between daytime brightness and nighttime darkness in the manga. The visual translates that concern into color and lighting. It also provides a useful expectation for the adaptation: the atmosphere between the jokes may matter as much as the jokes themselves. A single illustration cannot establish how the finished episodes handle that balance, but it gives the announcement a more specific identity than a logo reveal. What Miki Yoshikawa's other stories add to the context

Yoshikawa is also the creator of A Couple of Cuckoos and Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches. Looking at their opening premises helps explain why this new project is interesting beyond the vampire label. Each begins with a change in a relationship that the protagonist did not plan, then makes ordinary social life more complicated because of it.

In A Couple of Cuckoos, Kodansha introduces Nagi and Erika through a hospital switch at birth and their parents' proposed marriage. Questions about family become questions about who gets to decide the pair's future. Hiragi-san starts from a different imbalance: Shota enters an existing household whose members know something crucial that he does not. The comparison is about how the premises work, rather than a claim that the two stories share a world.

Yamada-kun makes its disruption supernatural. Ryu Yamada and Urara Shiraishi exchange bodies, turning private experience and public identity into immediate practical problems. Hiragi-san instead places the supernatural difference inside a family. In both introductions, getting close to another person means encountering a reality hidden beneath an ordinary appearance. That is a more useful connection than assuming that a familiar author's name guarantees identical humor or pacing.

There is also a relevant window into Yoshikawa's approach in Kodansha's interview from her Anime Expo 2015 visit, published in 2016. Discussing Yamada-kun, she explained that its powers were tied to psychological concerns and that she wanted young readers to recognize something of their own difficulties. She also described working through story problems by considering what each character would do. Related reading: Akane-banashi Season 2 Release Date: January 2027 and Story.

Those remarks concern an earlier manga, so they cannot stand in for a statement about this adaptation. They do suggest a useful way to approach the new premise: pay attention to what the supernatural situation does to a person's relationships. Shota's desire for security and the family's concealed nature already give the opening more to work with than the mechanics of a vampire bite.

Where English readers can start with the manga

Kodansha publishes the manga in English through K MANGA, which uses the title Hiragi-san's House of Vampires and credits Miki Yoshikawa. Its listing also supplies the Japanese title, 柊さんちの吸血事情. That is a useful cross-check when searching under romanizations such as Hiiragi-san Chi no Kyuuketsu Jijou.

The linked page is a later chapter listing, so new readers should open the series' chapter list and begin at chapter one. Jumping into a current update can reveal relationships or developments that the anime's initial announcement leaves unexplained. Access conditions should be checked on the service itself; an English catalogue page does not establish availability in every country.

The Japanese production site displays the first six collected volumes and advertises volume seven. Manga chapters, collected books and television episodes are different units, and the anime has no announced adaptation endpoint. There is therefore no reliable volume to recommend as the point where the first season will stop. Starting at the beginning is a reading option, not homework required before watching. The production credit and viewing details to keep straight

UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is the named planning-and-production credit. The official announcement does not separately identify the animation studio, director or main cast. Preserving that wording matters: turning a production label into a studio confirmation would make the guide sound more complete while giving readers information the announcement has not supplied.

The same boundary applies to distribution. An English manga edition does not establish an English anime license. No broadcaster, international streaming platform, subtitle territory list or dub schedule has been named in the official material reviewed. The anime homepage currently has no embedded trailer or linked YouTube PV; TMS does describe social campaign footage. The confirmed promotional centerpiece remains the first visual.

Why this one belongs on a supernatural-romance watchlist

The strongest reason to follow Hiragi-san now is the tension between its home-comedy framework and Shota's vulnerable position. The first image makes that tension visible without needing to introduce a sprawling supernatural world. Readers who enjoy relationship stories built around a concealed identity have a clear premise to investigate; viewers looking mainly for vampire battles have less evidence about that side of the adaptation.

For another upcoming vampire project, our Record of a Fallen Vampire guide offers a separate story and production announcement. Hiragi-san's appeal, at this stage, lies in the smaller space of a household and the uncertain meaning of being welcomed into it. The next substantial update will be the one that shows how the anime gives that household voices, movement and a broadcast date.
