Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING Anime Announced: Official Artwork, Trailer and Release Status
The Kingdom of Science's story is not finished. A newly announced anime will adapt the post-finale “TERRAFORMING” epilogue from Volume 27 of Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi's manga.
Dr. STONE is continuing after the anime finale
On October 10, 2026, the official Dr. STONE website announced that a new anime titled Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is in production. The news arrived at STONE FES.2026, after the television series reached its finale on June 25, 2026. Rather than announcing a remake or an unrelated spin-off, the production confirmed a story that continues beyond the original manga's ending.
What story will TERRAFORMING adapt?
The source material is the “TERRAFORMING” epilogue story in Volume 27 of the original manga by writer Riichiro Inagaki and artist Boichi. That makes the new project an adaptation of material set after the main story. Readers who have only watched the television anime can expect a further chapter of Senku's scientific adventure, but the production has not revealed a detailed episode-by-episode synopsis.

The official announcement video looks back at Senku's scientific inventions and includes newly recorded dialogue from the character. The teaser is a production announcement, not proof of a specific release season or format.

Official artwork: Senku returns
Character designer Yuko Iwasa created a celebratory illustration of Senku for the announcement. The artwork is published directly on the anime's official website and is reproduced above with attribution. The production also revealed the Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING title graphic.
Release date, episode count and streaming
There is no confirmed premiere date for Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING as of the October 10 announcement. The production has not said whether the adaptation will be a television series, a special episode, an OVA or another format. Its episode count and the staff roster for this specific project also remain unannounced.
Crunchyroll currently carries the earlier Dr. STONE anime, but that does not establish streaming rights for TERRAFORMING. No streaming platform should be listed as confirmed until the distributor announces it.
What did the manga creators say?
In comments published by the official anime website, writer Riichiro Inagaki expressed his excitement that the story continues after the television finale, while illustrator Boichi thanked fans and welcomed the new adaptation. Their statements reinforce that the project is officially in production; neither comment supplied a release date.
Is this Dr. STONE Season 5?
The production has announced the project under the title Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING, not as a numbered fifth season. Calling it “Season 5” would be premature until an official format and branding announcement is made.
