When does Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO release?

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO opens in Japanese theaters on Friday, January 15, 2027. Bandai Namco Filmworks has separately confirmed a North American theatrical release in February 2027, but has not announced a specific North American opening day or theater list. These are different regional release windows.

What is the story about?

Set in Cosmic Era 74 between Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY and the 2024 film SEED FREEDOM, the new movie follows Shinn Asuka after the collapse of the Destiny Plan. As Cagalli and her allies work to establish the international peacekeeping organization COMPASS, Shinn is still searching for a direction.

When the Strike Freedom Gundam is stolen from a temporary base on Onogoro Island, Shinn and his companions must respond before the crisis escalates. The film draws on a screenplay developed by Chiaki Morosawa, Shigeru Morita and director Mitsuo Fukuda during the planning of SEED FREEDOM.
