Live-Action Firefly Wedding TV Drama Announced for 2027

Firefly Wedding is getting a live-action television drama

Firefly Wedding will be adapted into a live-action Japanese television drama scheduled for 2027. The adaptation is planned to air on Fuji TV, adding another screen version of Oreco Tachibana's historical romance manga. The announcement was reported on October 9, 2026, as the television anime adaptation made its debut.

What has been confirmed about the 2027 drama?

The broadcaster and planned year are confirmed, but the announcement did not specify a premiere day, episode count, director or cast. Those details are expected to be revealed later. A promotional announcement video accompanied the news, although access to the video is restricted in some regions; readers can find the source coverage linked below rather than an unverified embedded player.

How the drama relates to the anime and manga

The upcoming live-action drama is a separate adaptation of the manga, not a second season of the anime. The animated Firefly Wedding series premiered in Japan in October 2026 on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block, with Crunchyroll carrying the anime for streaming. Both adaptations draw from the original manga, which was created by Oreco Tachibana and published through Shogakukan's MangaONE and Ura Sunday platforms.

What is Firefly Wedding about?

The story follows Satoko Kirigaya, a young woman from a prominent family who becomes entangled with the assassin Shinpei Goto. Their dangerous arrangement develops into an unconventional romance against a historical Japanese backdrop. The premise makes the story particularly suited to a live-action interpretation, but no specific casting choices or creative changes have been announced for the drama.

Where to follow the announcement

For confirmed developments, consult Crunchyroll's announcement and ORICON's report. A 2027 broadcast window is not the same as a fixed release date, so avoid treating a specific month as confirmed.
