What is Granite Waves?

Granite Waves is an original animated series created by Tezeze and produced with Ryuu. Ryuu describes its shows as vertical anime originals: the episodes are composed for full-screen phone viewing in a tall 9:16 format. That makes Granite Waves different from a conventional Japanese television-anime season, even though its creator and platform present it to anime fans.

The series is designed around short installments rather than standard 20-minute television episodes. Ryuu’s current page promotes regular episode drops, but it does not give a fixed day and time for every new episode. We will update this guide if the platform publishes a more specific schedule.

What is the story about?

The official synopsis describes a world where reality begins to break down and people disappear. Elya arrives in an isolated place while trying to make a new start; elsewhere, Zima and Ing attempt a dangerous heist in the Forbidden Places. They are presented as survivors and outcasts whose plans often go wrong. The story blends dark science fantasy, supernatural threats and heist elements.

Ryuu’s character material introduces Elya as a scientist, while its series page names the creator-led team behind the production. The official synopsis does not disclose every connection between the characters, so this guide keeps the premise spoiler-light.

Granite Waves cast

The official series site identifies several voice actors alongside the characters:

  • Sarah Natochenny as Elya
  • Peyton Howard as Blacksmith
  • Scotty Morace as Max
  • Bright Douglas as Ing

The official site also features additional characters and cast material. We will add more role credits when the production confirms them clearly.

Watch the official Granite Waves pilot

The first pilot installment is available through the official Granite Waves channel. It is the series’ pilot episode, rather than a trailer for a Japanese television series.

Where can you watch Granite Waves?

Granite Waves streams on Ryuu, the platform backing the series. Ryuu says its app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and its FAQ says viewers can download the app for free and watch the pilot episodes before deciding whether to subscribe. The platform directs viewers to its website to start a subscription and stream the regular episode lineup.

Availability, subscription prices and payment options can vary by country and can change. Check Ryuu’s official page and your app store listing for the current offer in your region. AniNextUp does not sell access to the series.

Is Granite Waves a Japanese anime?

Ryuu markets Granite Waves as a vertical anime original, but it is best described editorially as an independent, creator-led animated series made for mobile viewing. It is not presented by its official sources as a conventional Japanese TV-anime adaptation with a Japanese broadcast schedule. This distinction helps explain why searches for an “anime release date” can lead to information about Ryuu’s platform launch instead of a TV premiere.

Granite Waves release date and episode status

Ryuu’s official subscription page identifies August 25, 2026 as the platform premiere and says new episodes start after that date. The series is now available through Ryuu. Its current official pages promote regular new episodes, while the free app access is specifically described as covering the pilot episodes. We could not confirm a complete public episode-by-episode schedule or a separate international broadcaster.

For the latest availability, check the official Granite Waves site and Ryuu. We will distinguish any future episode date from the original platform launch.
