When does the Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent anime come out?

Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent is scheduled to premiere in Japan in April 2027. The production announced the month on October 1, narrowing the earlier 2027 release window. An exact first-episode date has not been supplied in the official announcements reviewed for this guide.

That makes this a Spring 2027 television anime, rather than an already available series. If an older listing says only “2027,” it reflects a less specific announcement. April is now the useful planning window, but it would be premature to put a particular Saturday into a personal episode calendar.

Where can you watch it?

The official release notice names ABEMA for streaming in Japan. It also confirms the ANiMAZiNG!!! programming block on the ABC TV and TV Asahi network, plus a BS11 television broadcast. Those are the announced domestic viewing routes; a Japanese platform announcement does not establish access in every country.

No international streaming service is identified in the official sources checked here. For viewers in the United States, United Kingdom or other overseas territories, the answer is therefore still pending. We cannot confirm Crunchyroll, Netflix, HIDIVE or Prime Video simply because they carry other school romances.

Before subscribing specifically for this title, wait for a territory announcement or a playable local catalog listing. An anime news report published by a streaming company is not, by itself, confirmation that the company has licensed the show. Our Where to Watch hub separates platform guides from unconfirmed availability.

What is the story about?

Hiro Momose wants an uneventful high-school life after dealing with delinquents. Dan Ichikura initially looks like exactly the sort of classmate who will keep that plan on track: black hair, glasses and the appearance of a serious student. The problem is that his reputation before high school was very different.

The romance grows out of Momose discovering that the apparently respectable Ichikura used to be a feared delinquent. He says he has changed, while his behavior gives her reasons to question how complete that change really is. Keeping his past quiet becomes part of their awkward new relationship.

It is a school romantic comedy about appearances, trust and a less-than-convincing fresh start. The delinquent element creates friction around the romance rather than turning the premise into a straightforward fighting tournament. If you are deciding whether to try it, the central appeal is the clash between Momose’s desire for peace and Ichikura’s unstable honor-student disguise.

Watch the official teaser trailer

The October teaser introduces the leads’ voices and their meeting through the help club, which Ichikura heads. Ohana-chan narrates the promotional video. The official accompanying announcement highlights the contrast between Ichikura’s studious appearance and the intimidating side that slips through it.

This is the newer April 2027 teaser linked from the anime’s official release notice. An earlier August promotional video accompanied the two teaser visuals and used the broader 2027 window. Seeing those two versions online does not mean there are two separate anime adaptations.

Who voices Momose, Ichikura and Ohana-chan?

The October cast announcement identifies Hiroto Shimizu as Dan Ichikura, Suzuko Hara as Hiro Momose and Yuma Tomochika as Ohana-chan. These are the Japanese voice performances. Their announcement does not establish an English-language cast.

The actors’ official comments emphasize the leads’ awkwardness as much as their romantic chemistry. Shimizu describes Ichikura as capable but far from perfect, with communication problems that undermine his attempt to seem like a model student. Hara points to Momose’s earnestness and the comedy of the pair upsetting each other’s expectations. That offers a useful indication of the intended tone without revealing later plot developments.

Which studios are making the anime?

Studio flad and Wao World are handling production together. Makoto Hoshino is the director, Megumi Shimizu is responsible for series composition, and Ruriko Watanabe is the character designer. Naruki is the creator of the original manga.

Those roles are separate: Naruki created the source story and artwork, while the announced anime team is responsible for bringing that material to television. The August staff announcement describes an adaptation intended to carry over the manga’s atmosphere. It does not specify how many chapters will be covered, so the credits should not be used to predict a season ending.

Why are there two teaser visuals?

The production released a romance-oriented visual and a delinquent-oriented visual in August. The first places Momose and Ichikura together; the second adds Igarashi, Sakyo, Yachiyo and Yataro to a more threatening group composition. Our cover uses the latter official illustration.

The paired artwork presents two sides of the same romantic comedy. It is helpful context if you have encountered a gentle couple image on one page and a darker ensemble image elsewhere. Neither visual confirms a different season, a spinoff or a separate release date.

Is it based on a manga, and is it available in English?

Yes. Naruki’s manga is published in Japan by Kodansha under the title Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun, written メガネ、時々、ヤンキーくん. Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent is the English manga title, so searching either name can lead to the same series.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English collected edition. Its catalog lists Volume 1 from January 14, 2025 and Volume 8 from October 27, 2026, with later volumes also scheduled. Those are book publication dates, not anime episode dates. The publisher’s series page is the appropriate place to check editions and upcoming books.

If you want the story before the television premiere, the English manga is a separate option. Starting with Volume 1 avoids guessing which material the anime will include. No official adaptation endpoint has been established in the announcements checked here.

Anime release date or manga release date: which listing are you seeing?

Check the format before adding a date to your watchlist. A retailer page with an ISBN and a volume number concerns the manga. A television announcement identifies a broadcaster or programming block. A streaming announcement should identify a service and, ideally, the territories it covers. These listings can all use the same English title while referring to different products.

For this adaptation, April 2027 is the anime window. The English books are already being published. A new volume appearing in an online store does not mean that the television show has started, and an anime teaser does not replace a full episode. Keeping those formats apart is particularly useful when searching the title in English.

Release and streaming questions

Is there an English dub announcement?

No English dub date or cast is confirmed in the reviewed official material. A Japanese cast reveal and a domestic streaming deal do not establish a dubbed release overseas. Subtitle options are also a matter for the eventual distributor to announce.

How many episodes will it have?

The season episode count and number of cours remain unannounced in the sources reviewed here. April 2027 establishes the start window; it does not tell us whether the adaptation will have 12 episodes, 13 episodes or a longer run.

Do I need to watch anything first?

The announcement presents an adaptation of Naruki’s manga, with the teaser introducing the central pair’s meeting. It is not being presented as a sequel requiring an earlier anime season. Reading the manga is optional preparation, rather than a viewing prerequisite.

What should viewers look for in the next announcement?

The most practical updates will be the exact premiere day, a detailed episode timetable, overseas streaming territories and language options. Theme songs and additional cast may follow separately. Until then, keep the distinction clear: the Japanese April window and domestic outlets are confirmed, while an international watch plan is not.
